Agetech, LifeSciKY, an area startup 'n more!
Healthcare through a Kentucky lens. Yeah, it's niche. But neat!

This weather, though, right?
What VCs Really Want From AgeTech Startups
Keren Etkin talks to Tracy Chadwell, founding partner at 1843 Capital. “1843 Capital focuses on AgeTech – technology for older adults and their caregivers and longevity.”
UK, LifeSciKY partner
“As complementary to this network, the partnership aims to convene other collaborators and lead development of a Kentucky bio alliance focused on connecting industry and innovation resources across the life sciences landscape statewide.”
Anatomy of a Biotech Failure: Part II
Interesting piece from age1’s Soleil Wizman. Read it all. But note this…
“While clinical trial failures accounted for approximately one-third of public explanations for recent biotech closures, capital crunch remained the most significant factor, underscoring that financing risk, not science alone, is the dominant existential threat.”
Just cool
“Using more than 1 million electronic health records, the researchers built AI models for 10 common diseases.” Read the rest. It’s probably the future.
Speaking of data science…
This article was written by Sellersburg, IN-based Maria Herlihy. Among other things, Maria is the Founder of Intrinsic Genomics. And “other things” includes being a Humana alum.
Cool.
Startup founder personality types
A 2023 publication, but new to me. “Here, we show that founder personality traits are a significant feature of a firm’s ultimate success.”
According to the lead author, they “pinpointed successful startup founders with an astounding 82.5% accuracy from inferred personality traits alone!"
AI in pharmacy
This is a really good piece by Timothy Aungst, PharmD.
