The weekly rundown. Neat!

A venture growth platform to help health systems
Seventeen healthcare organizations are partnering with Abundant Venture Partners. None of the 17 health systems are in Kentucky.
According to the Abundant Venture Partners press release, the “Abundant Platform accelerates commercialization through the Abundant Venture Studio, ensures rapid adoption via the Abundant Alliance of healthcare providers, and drives scale with aligned, provider-backed seed and series A venture funds.”
Startup Spotlight - Lockbox AI Inc.
Revenue cycle management [RCM] tracks the payment process from patient scheduling through treatment, coding, billing, and reimbursement.
Louisville-based Lockbox AI Inc. was organized in early 2022 by Founder and CEO John Williamson.
HD: What is Lockbox AI’s unique spin on RCM?
JW: We’re building the best platform for RCM companies to grow profitably while elevating the service level to their clients.
HD: You joined ZirMed in 2013. How did that experience prepare you for your first startup–RCM Brain?
JW: Working in the clearinghouse side of the industry, you see the volume of claims, payments, and denials that come through. All of that has to get processed and back into the EHR system. Understanding the overall data structures and payment issues helped guide the creation of an automation platform designed to post payments and streamline denial identification.
HD: How has Lockbox AI been funded to date? Local investors?
JW: A combination of bootstrapping, family office, and local angel investors that I have worked with in the past.
HD: What’s on the horizon for Lockbox AI?
JW: We’re scaling up our platform to support RCM companies and the myriad of challenges they are facing serving their clients profitably. This includes a highly optimized workflow with suggested next actions for staff, deep exploratory analytics for managers, and process automation to provide leverage for high volume activities. Additionally we are expanding our services offering to provide short term and long term staff support to augment understaffed teams.
VBC
Two interesting reads on value-based care [VBC]. There’s some VBC know-how here in Louisville, right?
Maybe we’ll see some VBC startup activity out of the Commonwealth.
Are LLMs Medical Devices?
This recent study out of the University of Pennsylvania “found that LLM output readily produced device-like decision support across a range of scenarios, suggesting a need for regulation if LLMs are formally deployed for clinical use.”
Health ‘n Pharmatech Unicorns
“Healthcare innovation used to cluster around legacy strongholds like Boston and San Diego, but our data shows a clear geographic rebalancing.” Read where, along with other interesting data.
