Tech in aging, predictive AI 'n more!

Healthcare through a Kentucky lens. It's niche. But neat! 🍂

Fall, y’all. 🍂

Managed Care Organizations Outlook

An analysis by Morningstar, Inc. This slide; “PBMs Also Target the Large, Fast-Growing Specialty Drug Market, Which Combines PBM and Caregiving Services.” By my count, I see two Louisville-based companies on the list.

Y’all, broken record here.

Double down.

Ascension’s innovation tournament

🎯 “The health system is also incubating new technologies. Ascension’s innovation tournament selects the most promising ideas from frontline staffers and puts them in front of leadership every six to 12 months. The health system’s innovation incubators work with service lines to identify and accelerate new needs.” 🎯

Just. Y’all. Yes.

Hospitals and predictive AI

This Assistant Secretary for Technology Policy data brief—Hospital Trends in the Use, Evaluation, and Governance of Predictive AI, 2023-2024—is chock full of interesting nuggets.

This is epic; “Predictive AI use also varied by EHR vendor: 90% of hospitals using the market leading EHR vendor used predictive AI in 2024 compared to just 50% of hospitals using the other vendors.”

Technology in Aging Services: Part I

“The inaugural 2025 Ziegler Link•age Funds/ LeadingAge CAST survey was designed to understand how not-for-profit senior living and care organizations are approaching technology strategy, adoption, and innovation.”

Technology in Aging Services: Part II

Home care had the largest percentage of respondents (60.3%) who said that tech is ‘extremely important’ to their organization’s goals, compared with skilled nursing (50.1%) and senior living (48.8%).”

LifeSciKY news

“In addition to PAN Biologics, Clareo Biosciences, a Louisville-based company, will move into OneNKY Center laboratory.”

Other recent Clareo news, ICYMI.

Dr. Sharp

“Biogen CEO Chris Viehbacher hoisted his shovel, alongside MIT President Sally Kornbluth, Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey, and Biogen co-founders Walter Gilbert and Phillip Sharp, at a groundbreaking of the company’s new headquarters on Tuesday.” Just a reminder that Dr. Sharp—a Nobel Prize winner—was born in Falmouth, KY.

Got something we should share? Holla.
